At H. E. Services (Plant Hire) Ltd, we’re proud to be supporting the construction of one of Devon’s most exciting infrastructure projects – the brand-new Okehampton Interchange. Set to open in 2026, this £15 million development will become the newest station on the Dartmoor Line and marks a huge step forward in improving transport links throughout the region.
Located just over 2 km east of the current Okehampton Station, the new interchange is designed to create a seamless and sustainable connection point for residents, commuters, and visitors alike.
What’s Being Built?
The Okehampton Interchange isn’t just another station – it’s a modern transport hub built with accessibility and long-term sustainability in mind. The plans for the site include:
A single platform railway station with full step-free access.
A car park with 200 spaces, including disabled bays and electric vehicle charging points.
Cycle parking and a shared cycle and footpath to promote greener travel options.
A bus stop, shelter, and dedicated drop-off area to support multi-mode transport.
All of this forms part of a wider effort to create a more connected and environmentally friendly rail service across Devon, as the Dartmoor Line continues to go from strength to strength.
Our Role in the Project
To support the construction phase, we’ve supplied a range of plant machinery from our Exeter depot, including:
Komatsu tracked excavators such as the PC80 and PC210
These machines are being used for everything from earthworks to groundwork operations, ensuring the project stays on track and on schedule.
We are proud to be known for providing one of the most modern and reliable fleets in the UK. And for major infrastructure works like this, it’s crucial that plant machinery is efficient, well-maintained, and ready to perform on any terrain.
Proud to Support the South West
Our Exeter depot has forged a strong connection with companies and project leaders throughout the region, including Network Rail – who we’ve been working closely with on this development.
As our Hire Manager in Exeter, Kerry-Ann Rossouw, put it:
“We’re delighted to be supporting such an important infrastructure project for the South West. The Okehampton Interchange will play a huge role in improving local connectivity and providing more sustainable transport options for residents and visitors alike. Our team is proud to provide the reliable, high-quality plant machinery needed to help bring this project to life.”
With work now well underway and progress visible across the site, we’re excited to play a key part in this transformative project – one that will benefit the local area for decades to come.
And while Okehampton is a big moment for Devon, we’re just as committed to supporting infrastructure developments across the UK. With a nationwide network of depots and a fleet of over 3,500 machines, H. E. Services is ready to respond to projects of any scale.
Whether you’re building transport links, laying foundations, or moving earth – we’re proud to help get the job done safely, efficiently, and with the customer in mind.
