In collaboration with a District Council and Spree Engineering and Testing Ltd, we recently embarked on an innovative eco-friendly project to enhance the safety of iconic Kent promenades. Central to this effort is the deployment of the Sany SY19E Electric Mini Digger. A machine that not only delivers exceptional performance but also aligns with our commitment to reducing environmental impact.
Why Choose the Electric Mini Digger?
For this project, the SY19E Electric Mini Digger was the natural choice. This state-of-the-art equipment combines compact design with robust capabilities. Making it ideal for navigating public spaces with minimal disruption. Weighing 1,965 kg and powered by a 15 kW engine, the electric mini digger provides zero emissions and operates noise-free. With a battery life of up to six hours, it’s perfectly suited for urban and environmentally sensitive areas where sustainability is a priority.
Ensuring Public Safety Through Precision Testing
The project involved critical safety assessments of pedestrian railings at six prominent locations along the Kent coast. These tests, currently ongoing, are designed to ensure public safety while adhering to high eco-friendly standards.
At H. E. Services, we developed a bespoke testing method to guarantee precise and reliable results. A custom metal testing beam, designed and manufactured by the Kent-based Masterhitch Europe Ltd, was integral to the process. This beam was attached to railings, connected via bow shackles and a load cell to measure applied force, and paired with a laser pointer to detect deflection. Testing involved forces between 350-500 kg. Simulating everyday wear and tear to assess the railings’ durability.
Spree Engineering and Testing Ltd expertly oversaw every aspect of the testing process, ensuring that all safety standards were met without compromising the environment. Their involvement underscores the collaborative nature of this initiative.
Sustainable Transport Solutions
Beyond the electric mini digger’s performance, the project also benefited from the use of a fully electric Rivian R1T pickup truck, provided by EVision Electric Vehicles. This remarkable vehicle, with a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes and a range of over 300 miles, facilitated the seamless transport of the Sany digger between sites. The Rivian’s zero-emission operation further exemplifies the project’s commitment to sustainability.
